Long Island Board of REALTORS® Takes Lead in Educating the Public about New York’s Latest Protected Class: Source of Income

In 2019, the Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) launched the “Home for All of Us” campaign in response to fair housing issues exposed by Newsday’s ‘Long Island Divided’ exposé and the passage of Source of Income (SOI) protection in New York. The campaign aims to educate its 30,000 members and the public about fair housing laws, particularly SOI protections. It includes a dedicated website with resources, co-brandable materials sent to brokers, and a positive, inclusive message. LIBOR hopes to inspire others to replicate the campaign, expanding fair housing awareness and inclusivity in real estate. The association has also shared campaign materials with other real estate professionals to promote fair housing beyond Long Island.
