Another broker settles Section 8 discrimination case

Real estate agent Pasquale Marciano, owner of Century 21 Marciano, settled for $40,000 with the New York Attorney General after his agents allegedly rejected undercover investigators posing as Section 8 housing voucher holders. Marciano must now implement anti-discrimination measures, advertise units for subsidies, cap application fees at $20, waive broker fees for five years in subsidy deals, and place nine subsidy tenants. The case highlights illegal discrimination against Section 8 applicants, with other nonprofits using similar tactics to reveal industry violations. Recently, Long Island Housing Services settled for $19,500 with Willow Lake Apartments over discriminatory practices.
